Pastor Ford was called as pastor on June 25, 1989. In addition to pastoral duties, he teaches the Adult 1 class, serves as the chairman of the West Texas/New Mexico Fellowship and is a volunteer chaplain for Lea Regional Medical Center.

Originally from Hobbs; LaVoid graduated from Baptist Bible College in 1979, with a B.A. in Theology. In 1979 he took a position as youth pastor at Tabernacle Baptist Church in Farmington, NM, and gained experience ministering to others through the youth, bus ministry, and adult classes during his eight years on staff there.

LaVoid married Denise Miller on June 12, 1981 in Farmington. They have three children: Heather, Nathan and Ryan.
